Hall of Distinction
The Hall of Distinction is a very prestigious honor given to outstanding Alumni or Plain Local Schools contributors.
The Plain Local Schools Alumni Association Hall of Distinction honors alumni, and other individuals in our community, who have distinguished themselves personally and / or professionally, have contributed time and talent to the Plain Local School District and who have exemplified the education and moral values that are respected by their community and school system.
To be considered for this honor, nominees must meet the eligibility requirements as defined by the Plain Local Schools Alumni Association. Those selected into the Hall of Distinction will be memorialized with a permanent likeness and inscriptions at GlenOak High School.

Hall of Distinction Induction Ceremony
On Thursday, October 3rd we recognized Plain Local Schools Alumni and others who have distinguished themselves and have exemplified their community and school system.
This year’s inductees were:

- Kathy Jordan 1984 (from Conotton Valley High School)
- Scott Leszczynski 1990
- Dr. Laura Bowling 1989
- Dr. Louis Shaheen 1978
- Mac Worthington 1965
Introducing two new categories:
- Plain Foundation Honorary Eagle of Distinction: Jared Marcum 2020
- Plain Foundation Community Partner of the Year: The Rotary Club of Plain Township

Make a Nomination for the 2024 Hall of Distinction
The Alumni Hall of Distinction is designed to recognize Plain Local Schools Alumni and other individuals who have distinguished themselves and have exemplified the education and moral values that are respected by their community and school system.
To be considered for this honor, nominees must meet the eligibility requirements as defined by the Plain Local Schools Alumni Association. Those selected into the Hall of Distinction will be memorialized with a permanent likeness and inscription at GlenOak High School.
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a graduate of Middlebranch, Glenwood, Oakwood, or GlenOak high schools.
- Non-graduates may be nominated based on their association or contribution to the history and welfare of the Plain Local School District.
- The nominee shall have distinguished himself/herself in one or more of the following areas:
a) Community Contribution
b) Professional Accomplishment
c) Education
d) Political Leadership
e) Athletic Endeavors
f) Humanitarian Contributions
g) Other contributions - Nominee will attend the Hall of Distinction preferably in person. If unable to attend in person, arrangements will be made to meet virtually or by video.
Completed nominations were received by March 15, 2024.

All persons making nominations will be informed of the final selections.
A selection committee made up of association members and members of the civic business community shall review the application and make a final decision. Final decisions remain with the Plain Local Alumni Association.
